Local sides set to meet at Nethermoor in Northern Premier League fixture

Guiseley AFC will host Gainsborough Trinity at Nethermoor on Boxing Day, 26 December 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. The match marks the final home game for Guiseley in 2025 and offers an opportunity for manager Ian Richards to maintain his unbeaten home record this season.

Team News and Injuries

Guiseley face a challenging selection for the fixture after a difficult week that saw six players become unavailable due to injury or illness. Manager Ian Richards reported that three players were injured on the day of their recent match, compounding the squad’s difficulties.

Calum Hudson and George Goodman, both sidelined with illness during the previous game, could return for the Boxing Day fixture. However, the availability of Will Longbottom, Jack Emmett, and John Lufudu remains uncertain due to a head injury, a tight hamstring, and shin and ankle injuries respectively.

Lucas Odunston, who was named on the bench in the last game, is also managing a tight hamstring. Ollie Brown and Jordan Thewlis played through minor knocks in the recent fixture. A positive development for Guiseley is the return of Jake Lawlor, who has been out since mid-November with a hamstring injury.

Newcomers Elliot Owen and Bobby Moore, who made their debuts in the previous match, may feature again as the squad looks to build momentum.

Gainsborough Trinity’s Current Form

Gainsborough Trinity currently sit seventh in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table with 30 points from 19 games. They have played fewer matches than most teams, having been involved in the Emirates FA Cup where they were eliminated by Accrington Stanley after extra time in the first round.

Their recent league form shows just one win in the last seven games, balanced by five draws and only one defeat. Gainsborough’s squad includes former Guiseley players Adam Crookes and Frank Mulhern, as well as Fraser Preston, brother of Jordan Preston.

Russ Willcox has managed Gainsborough since September 2023 and aims for a play-off position after narrowly missing out by five points last season.
