Guiseley Secure 2-0 Win in Preseason Friendly at Tadcaster
July 15, 2026Early goal and late header ensure victory for the Lions
Guiseley AFC recorded their first preseason victory since 2024 with a 2-0 win against Tadcaster Albion at the Young Guns Arena on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. The match was played in bright and warm conditions before an attendance of 127 spectators.
Match Summary
The Lions took an early lead in the 16th minute when new signing Jay Rollins met a driven cross from Lucas Odunston to put Guiseley ahead. Despite this positive start, the home side applied pressure throughout the game, particularly in the second half, but Guiseley maintained their advantage to secure the win.
Guiseley’s opening half was marked by attacking intent, with several chances created. After Rollins’ goal, Lebrun Mbeka provided a key pass to Rollins, who was blocked by a defender. Amir Berchil also tested the Tadcaster goalkeeper Ally Hughes, who made several notable saves to keep his side in the contest. Other chances included a header from Paul Iggulden and a long-range free-kick from Kyle White, both of which were unsuccessful.
In the second half, Tadcaster Albion gained more possession and created their clearest opportunity when Ollie Brown bypassed Michael Roxburgh, only for Adam Lund to clear the ball off the line. Guiseley responded in the final quarter with chances for Derren Boyle and Aaron Martin, but both efforts were saved or blocked.
The decisive second goal came in the 84th minute from Elliot Owen. A long throw from Adam Lund caused confusion in the Tadcaster defence, allowing Owen to head the ball into the top corner and seal the victory for Guiseley. Kyle White had a late attempt on goal, but Hughes again made a strong save.
