John Bridson Memorial Match Set for Nethermoor Return

Opportunity to play alongside former Guiseley AFC players

Guiseley AFC has announced the return of the John Bridson Memorial Match, scheduled for Sunday 3 May 2026, with a 2pm kick-off at Nethermoor. This event offers a chance for fans to play on the Nethermoor pitch alongside several former Guiseley players.

Event details and participants

The John Bridson Memorial Match was last held in 2024 and featured former players returning to the club’s ground, as well as fans joining in the game. Although the match did not take place in 2025 due to scheduling difficulties, it is set to resume this year.

Former players expected to participate include:

  • James Walshaw
  • Gavin Rothery
  • Oli Johnson
  • Steven Drench
  • Steve Dickinson
  • Danny Boshell
  • Danny Lowe

Current Guiseley players Ollie Brown and Jake Lawlor will also feature in the match.

Participation and fundraising

Fans interested in playing can register for limited spaces available. The cost is £45 for 45 minutes of play or £90 for a full match. Those wishing to participate are advised to contact the club via email at adam.bridson@guiseleyafc.co.uk.

Participants will receive a matchday experience including:

  • Announcements on the tannoy
  • Inclusion in the match programme and social media
  • A teamsheet and match report
  • Video footage of the game available shortly after

There are also non-playing roles available, such as assistant manager.

Sponsorship and fundraising efforts

The club is seeking programme sponsors, event sponsors, and player sponsors, with prices starting at £25. All funds raised will contribute to improving the matchday experience at Nethermoor.
