Guiseley AFC’s Nethermoor Park to stage two local cup finals

Nethermoor Park, home of Guiseley AFC, will host the two Wharfedale FA Cup finals on Sunday 19 April 2026. The event will feature matches in both the open age Wharfedale Challenge Cup and the Wilf Chatwin U16 Junior Cup.

Wharfedale Challenge Cup Final

The main event will see Guiseley Academy’s under-19 team face Otley Town in the final of the Wharfedale Challenge Cup, a competition with a history spanning 120 years. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30pm.

Guiseley’s U19 side, managed by Dave Currie, is primarily made up of 16 and 17-year-olds. They have reached the final after defeating three men’s teams:

  • Burley Trojans (Craven League) – 2-1
  • Pool (West Yorkshire League) – 13-1
  • Horsforth St Margaret’s Seconds (Yorkshire Amateur League) – 4-2

This marks a continuation of Guiseley’s strong tradition in the competition. The first team and reserves have previously won the trophy multiple times, collectively securing 21 wins, with the reserves last lifting the cup in the 2005-06 season. Guiseley AFC also holds the record for the most consecutive wins in the competition, with eight.

Guiseley Academy’s U19 team competes in the National League U19 Alliance North. Their opponents, Otley Town, received a bye in the first round after the previous holders, Ilkley Town, withdrew. Otley Town progressed to the final with victories over Bramhope (3-2) and Rawdon Old Boys (4-1).

Wilf Chatwin U16 Junior Cup Final

Earlier on Sunday, at 10:30am, Guiseley will host the Wilf Chatwin U16 Junior Cup final. Guiseley Juniors U16 Whites will play against Ilkley Town Juniors U15 Bears. Guiseley’s side were runners-up in this competition last season as under-15s, losing to the current Guiseley U16 Whites.
