Forward to remain at Nethermoor for 2026/27 season

Guiseley AFC have confirmed that striker Will Longbottom has signed a new contract to stay with the club for the upcoming 2026/27 season. The 27-year-old forward joined the Lions in May 2024 and has since been an important player for the team.

Playing record at Guiseley

During his two seasons at Nethermoor, Longbottom has made 65 appearances and scored 33 goals. In the 2025/26 campaign alone, he featured in 22 matches and netted seven goals. However, his season was interrupted from January onwards due to injury.

Longbottom underwent surgery and was reportedly progressing towards full fitness by the end of last season. His return to the squad is anticipated to bolster Guiseley’s attacking options.

Career background

Will Longbottom began his career at Doncaster Rovers, where he advanced through the youth system and made his senior debut. During his time with Doncaster, he had loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Halesowen Town, and Gainsborough Trinity.

He then had a brief stint in Ireland with Waterford before returning to England. Upon his return, he signed for Bradford (Park Avenue) and later played for Farsley Celtic. Longbottom rejoined Bradford (Park Avenue) for the 2023/24 season before moving to Guiseley.

In his first season at Guiseley, he finished as the league’s fifth highest scorer, demonstrating his goal-scoring ability with a variety of strikes including free kicks, long-range efforts, and close-range finishes.

Personal interests

Off the pitch, Longbottom enjoys going to the gym. He and his partner Emily also run an online coaching business.

Looking ahead

Guiseley AFC are expected to announce further player retentions in the coming days as they prepare for the new season. The club’s next scheduled fixture is a pre-season friendly against Harrogate Town on 11 July 2026 at 3:00 pm.
