Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Leeds Hospitals Charity have announced the opening of applications for a pre-application funding support scheme aimed at healthcare professionals interested in developing research career development fellowship applications. The scheme is designed to support researchers working in specific clinical areas including Stroke, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Cancer, Ophthalmology, and Radiotherapy.
Details of the funding and support
The funding and support package is intended to provide applicants with protected time to develop their fellowship applications. In addition, it covers costs related to training, patient and public involvement, and academic supervision. The maximum amount available per application is up to £39,500, with a lower maximum of £33,000 for projects in Ophthalmology.
Eligibility and requirements
The scheme targets motivated healthcare professionals who are committed to pursuing a career in research. Applicants are expected to propose research projects with a direct patient focus. Furthermore, there must be a clear plan to apply for a competitive research award within two years of receiving the pre-application funding.
