Flint Family Fund Supports Thousands of Leeds Children

Since its launch in 2020, the Flint Family Fund has supported over 14,300 children, young people, and their families across Leeds. The fund works in partnership with the Flint family to provide grants to community organisations that offer extracurricular activities aimed at addressing gaps in opportunities for disadvantaged young people.
Grants awarded to local organisations
Over five rounds of funding, the Flint Family Fund has awarded 46 grants to 41 community groups in Leeds. These organisations have delivered a wide range of activities, including:
- Tennis sessions
- Music groups
- Arts clubs
- Day trips
- Dance and movement sessions
- Self-care workshops
- Cooking clubs
- Family respite days
- A roller skate library
Impact on participants
The activities funded by the Flint Family Fund have contributed to improvements in mental health and wellbeing, increased confidence in communication and social situations, raised aspirations, and strengthened relationships among participants.
One example comes from the Jason Robinson Foundation, which received funding to run weekly sports, games, and family wellbeing workshops. A father who attended the sessions with his son commented on the positive experience, noting that the coaches helped him understand his child better and enjoy quality time together.
Recent focus on early years development
In 2026, the Flint Family Fund shifted its focus to support pre-natal, post-natal, and early years development. Sixteen organisations received funding to deliver projects aimed at improving both short- and long-term health and wellbeing outcomes for parents and children.
The Flint family continues to partner with Leeds Community Foundation to deliver this programme, which aims to create brighter futures for children and young people throughout Leeds.
