Midfielder to remain with the Lions for 2026/27 season

Guiseley AFC has confirmed that central midfielder Harrison Hopper will continue with the club for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign, having signed a new contract extension. Hopper, 25, joined the Lions ahead of the previous season and has been a consistent presence in the team.

Player contributions and appearances

During his first season at Guiseley, Hopper made 40 appearances, missing only one game since September. He featured in almost every match under manager Ian Richards, who reportedly considered him for the Manager’s Player of the Season Award. Hopper’s reliability and regular inclusion in the starting lineup underline his importance to the squad.

Career background

Harrison Hopper began his football career in the Leeds United academy, where he played alongside Lucas Odunston from under-9s to under-14s. He later moved to the Barnsley Academy before progressing to senior football. His subsequent clubs include:

  • Rochdale
  • York City
  • Bradford (Park Avenue), where he spent two seasons under manager Mark Bower
  • Warrington Rylands

Mark Bower, who previously managed Hopper at Bradford (Park Avenue), brought him to Guiseley following his availability, reuniting the midfielder with the club at Nethermoor.

Looking ahead

Guiseley AFC is expected to announce further player retentions in the coming days as preparations continue for the next season.
