Harrogate Town’s Recent Form and Squad
Harrogate Town, managed by Simon Weaver, will be visiting Nethermoor following their relegation from League Two last season. The team finished 23rd, narrowly missing survival by a single point despite a late-season improvement.
Weaver’s squad retains 17 players from last season and has added six new signings. George Thomson has also confirmed he will remain with the club. This friendly marks the second consecutive pre-season meeting between the two clubs after a five-year gap without fixtures.
Previous Encounters
Guiseley and Harrogate Town have a history of competitive matches in league and local cup competitions, often meeting during the festive period. Their last competitive match took place just before the COVID-19 pandemic, with Guiseley winning 2-1 in the West Riding County Cup. The most recent friendly, held last year at Nethermoor, was won by Harrogate Town in a closely contested game.
Player Insight: Adam Lund
New signing Adam Lund has spoken about his first week of pre-season training at Guiseley. He described the sessions as physically demanding but necessary preparation ahead of the season. Lund cited his familiarity with manager Ian Richards, whom he knows from previous footballing connections, as a factor in his decision to join the club.
Lund characterised himself as a defensive midfielder focused on work rate, tackling, and winning individual battles to support his teammates. He emphasised a team-oriented approach, with the primary goal being success for the club rather than individual accolades.
