Grants Available for Food Aid Groups Across the UK

Funding opportunity for organisations providing food support

Groups distributing food and essential items to disadvantaged people in the UK can apply for grants of up to £1,000. The funding is intended to support organisations whose primary purpose is food aid, such as food banks, community pantries, social supermarkets, soup kitchens, and breakfast clubs.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for the grant, applicant groups must meet the following conditions:

• Be a not-for-profit organisation
• Have an annual income below £250,000
• Possess governing documents
• Have a safeguarding policy in place
• Maintain a bank account in the group’s name that accepts cheques, with proof available
• Offer food provision as their core activity (groups not primarily focused on food provision are not eligible)

Permitted use of funds

The grants can be used exclusively for the following purposes:

• Essential food items, including baby food and formula
• Basic hygiene products such as toiletries, nappies, and baby wipes
• White goods, for example, fridges and freezers
• Storage solutions and essential fixtures or fittings like containers and shelving
• Fuel costs related to delivering food to isolated community members

Application details

The application window opens on 8 September and closes at 10am on 22 September 2026. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as the scheme may close ahead of schedule if there is a high volume of applications. Additionally, if applications from certain geographical areas exceed available funding, those areas may close before the overall programme ends.
