Local charity recognised for safety and quality in outdoor learning

Leeds Children’s Charity has recently been awarded two national accreditations recognising the quality and safety of its educational visits. The organisation received the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge and the Adventuremark accreditation following an inspection earlier this month.

Details of the accreditations

The LOtC Quality Badge is a national award that evaluates both risk management and educational provision across providers of learning outside the classroom. It is administered by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) and is recognised by the Department for Education. The badge serves as an assurance to schools and community groups regarding the quality and safety of educational experiences offered.

Adventuremark accreditation is awarded to organisations that meet the safety standards for adventure activities as defined by the Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC). This accreditation confirms that the charity complies with required safety protocols for delivering adventure activities.

Consistent recognition over six years

This marks the sixth consecutive year that Leeds Children’s Charity has been awarded both the LOtC Quality Badge and the Adventuremark accreditation, demonstrating ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards.

Comments from charity and accreditation representatives

  • Tamzin Glindon, Activity Centre Manager at Leeds Children’s Charity, said the accreditations highlight the organisation’s dedication to providing safe and meaningful activities that support children’s confidence and skill development.
  • Dr Anne Hunt, Chief Executive of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, noted that the LOtC Quality Badge offers reassurance to teachers about the quality and safety of educational venues, reducing administrative burden and providing peace of mind.
