Leeds Runners Invited to Barcelona Marathon 2027

Experience a flat and fast marathon through Barcelona’s iconic landmarks

Leeds residents and running enthusiasts have the opportunity to participate in the Barcelona Marathon, scheduled for Sunday 14 March 2027. The event begins at the Paseo de Gracia in the heart of Barcelona, with the first wave starting at 8:30am.

Marathon route and features

The Barcelona Marathon is recognised as one of the most popular marathon events in Europe. The 42.195-kilometre (26.2 miles) course runs through the city centre, offering runners a chance to pass several of Barcelona’s famous landmarks. Key points on the route include:

• Camp Nou – the home stadium of Barcelona FC
• Sagrada Familia – the renowned basilica designed by Antoni Gaudí
• Parc de la Ciutadella – a large park in the city
• Finish line located a short distance from La Rambla, a famous street in Barcelona

The course is noted for being very flat with few hills or inclines, making it suitable for first-time marathon runners as well as those aiming to achieve a personal best time.

Booking and participation

Places for the marathon are being provided by Run for Charity, an organisation that facilitates charity places in running events. Interested participants can book their place through the Run for Charity platform.
