The Grammar School at Leeds Supports Local Charities

Partnership with Leeds Community Foundation

The Grammar School at Leeds has been working in partnership with Leeds Community Foundation since October 2024. This collaboration involves staff, students, and alumni participating in various activities aimed at raising funds for charities across Leeds.

Fundraising and Community Engagement

Each year, the school organises a range of fundraising events. One notable example is Prefect Week, a dedicated week of fundraising led by the school’s Prefect body. Activities during this week include events such as a Staff versus Students football match. The funds raised are distributed by Leeds Community Foundation to support local charitable organisations.

In addition to fundraising, students have the opportunity to visit some of the community organisations supported by the Foundation. These visits provide insight into the impact of their fundraising efforts and allow members of the community to engage with young people committed to contributing positively to Leeds.

Student Perspectives

Brooke and Eva, Year 13 students and Charity Leaders at The Grammar School at Leeds, shared their views on the partnership. They highlighted the importance of supporting local communities and acknowledged the privilege of being able to contribute to the city’s welfare.

They also expressed appreciation for the diversity and friendliness of Leeds, noting the sense of unity fostered by the city, including through shared interests such as support for Leeds United football club.

Following visits to several charities supported by Leeds Community Foundation, Brooke and Eva recommended that potential supporters explore the Foundation’s work firsthand to understand the impact of donations in Leeds.
