Leeds University Union Launches Winter Warm-Up Events
November 28, 2025Students invited to enjoy a series of festive activities before the holiday break
Leeds University Union (LUU) has introduced a programme of seasonal events designed to offer students a chance to relax and enjoy festive activities ahead of the winter break. The initiative, called the Winter Warm-Up, features a variety of events taking place across the Union’s venues throughout November and December.
New Terrace Tent opens as part of winter celebrations
The Winter Warm-Up began with the opening of the newly installed Terrace Tent, which serves as a central location for many of the scheduled activities. The Union aims to provide students with opportunities to unwind and socialise in a festive atmosphere during a busy period of the academic calendar.
Upcoming events include craft sessions, festive parties, and family fun
The programme includes a range of events catering to different interests, such as:
- Festive Wooden Ornament Painting – 25 November, 2pm to 4pm at The Terrace Tent
- Winter Card Making – 2 December, 2pm to 4pm at The Terrace Tent
- Santa Appearance – 4 and 11 December from 12pm at the LUU Front Door
- LUU Christmas Day – 5 December, 12pm to 4pm at Union Square and Crossroads
- Fruity Winter Wonderland – 5 December, 11:30pm to 4am at LUU
- Festive Family Fun – 10 December, 3pm to 6pm at Crossroads
- Bauble Painting – 10 December, 2pm to 4pm at The Terrace Tent
- Fruity Big Christmas Party – 12 December, 11:30pm to 4am at LUU
Encouraging students to balance commitments and wellbeing
LUU has acknowledged that the end of term can be a demanding time for students, with exams, assignments, and other responsibilities coinciding with the festive season. The Winter Warm-Up events are intended to provide a welcome break and an opportunity to de-stress in a supportive environment.
Students are encouraged to participate in the activities, whether that involves enjoying a hot drink, engaging in creative crafts, or attending social gatherings. The Union hopes the events will help make the winter season more enjoyable and memorable for the university community.
